PM Shri Atal Utkrisht Shahid Rahul Rainswal G.I.C. Champawat
College was estabished in 1948, upgraded to high school in 1970 and Senior Secondary in 1974. College was affiliated to CBSE in the session 2021-22. College is located in district headquarter Champawat, GIC Champawat has a wide and attractive campus and has total registered land 8780 sq meter. In 2021 under state government policy of converting selected ongoing school to Atal Utkrisht, which is cbse affiliated schools. and renamed as Atal Utkrisht Government Inter College Champawat. School is selected in the centrally sponsored scheme PM Shri School by the Government of India. School is renamed as PM Shri Atal Utkrisht Shahid Rahul Rainswal G.I.C. Champawat on the name of Pulwama Operation hero Late. Sep Rahu Rainswal (Sena Medal ) for his exceptional courage, devotion to duty, and supreme sacrifice.
About Champawat :
The capital of the Chand dynasty (10th to 16th century), Champawat is steeped in history and heritage. Today, it is best known for its temples, many of which date back to the times of the Chand rulers. As per Indian mythology, Lord Vishnu appeared here in the form of a tortoise, called “Kurmavatar”. The architecture of the temples is noteworthy and a callout of the skill and intricacies of the artistes of that time. Chief of these is the Nagnath Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. The popular temple is one of the finest examples of Kumaon architecture.
